The present study delves into the psychosocial impact of Perimenopause and Menopause on the
mental health of working women in Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. It explores the effects of
hormonal fluctuations, psychosocial factors, coping strategies, and support systems on mental
health during this stage. Employing an explanatory research design, it aims to understand causal
relationships and complex interactions, elucidating reasons behind mental health changes. The
qualitative method of case study was used for data collection, involving a sample of 10 working
women under 50 experiencing menopause or its transitional phase. Probability sampling was
employed to ensure generalizability. The Findings reveal a correlation between hormonal changes
(e.g., decreased Estrogen levels) and symptoms like Depression, Anxiety, mood swings, and
cognitive changes. Psychosocial stressors from work, family, and societal attitudes towards aging
significantly impact mental health during this transition. The study underscores the need for tailored
interventions and support programs to address women's specific needs during perimenopause and
menopause, enhancing mental health outcomes and overall well-being. The study concludes with
the importance of understanding the multifaceted nature of menopausal experiences, considering
both biological and psychosocial factors. By recognizing the challenges faced by working women
during this transition, appropriate interventions can be developed to support their mental health
effectively as well as it contributes valuable insights to the development of holistic approaches
aimed at promoting well-being and resilience among women navigating perimenopause and
menopause in Coimbatore District.
